Jeff Jarvis is the Emeritus Tow Professor of Journalism Innovation at CUNY's Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, a Visiting Professor at Stony Brook University, and a Distinguished Fellow at Montclair State University. Widely known for his commentary on media, the Internet, and technology, his latest book,Hot Type: The Magnificent Machine that Gave Birth to Mass Media and Drove Mark Twain Mad (Bloomsbury, 2026), explores how the development of the Linotype machine in the nineteenth century transformed publishing.
